Circa WHAT :Tole (Chandelier)

Mar 10, 2022 | Designs and Designers

The word tole refers to painted tinplate. Tole painting is the folk art of decorative painting on tin and wooden utensils, objects and furniture.

Tole chandeliers are light fixtures made of metal and painted with enamel paint or lacquer.

Vintage tole chandeliers trace back to Europe in the 1920s (specifically Florence, Italy), and later exported around the globe.

They’re decorated with colorful vines, green leaves, and either porcelain roses or metal flowers.
